BBC NEWS | Northern Ireland | Continuity IRA shot dead officer

My thoughts are with the family of Constable Stephen Paul Carroll who has been shot dead by the Continuity IRA. It is time for everyone to call upon the Real IRA and the Continuity IRA to disarm and join the Peace Process. There is NO place for this type of activity in Post Troubles Northern Ireland. It is time to build for teh future not slide back to th eold ways of violence and terror.Again… deepest sympathies to the family of Constable Stephen Paul Carroll on their loss.

Yes, your right, no point in going back to the past but unfortunately, this is probably going to happen.. as much as none of us want it to, it will, these young ‘thugs’ have nothing better to do with their time and think they can act like the ‘big boys’ when in actual fact they just look like cowardly animals…

  2. No Turning Back says:

    2twentythree3..
We don’t have to go back. It is not set in any kind of stone that as soon as one or two thugs decide to pull out the guns all the rest of us immediately jump back behind our traditional lines and start shooting.

This peace process has come too far to be sidelined by a couple of gangsters who have NO SUPPORT among the Catholic population.

Don’t despair… we can stay on this road to peace if we believe in it and stay strong and stay calm.

  3. Daniel says:

I cant see anyone going back, these are the last remnants of a organisation long bereft of a cause of support from anyone but the ill educated. Not only do the Catholic population feel outrage, we feel all feel together. There is no difference of view now we are together on this and happy to be together.

  4. Troubledpast says:

    Well said Daniel.
