Omagh FireTragedy

Five children and two adults are feared dead in an early morning fire in Omagh, Co. Tyrone.

omagh.gifIt seems the children ages range from 13 year to barely an infant. Neighbours in Lammy Crescent bravely tried to rescue the family but were beaten back by flames and intense heat. Fire crews from Omagh and Newtownstewart fought the blaze but could do nothing to rescue the family as the house was already engulfed when the crews arrived.

There is little that can be said to ease the pain being felt by the family, friends and neighbours of these victims.

Simply…our thoughts are with you all in the days and months ahead.

The BBC is carrying a story: “Father is suspect in blaze deaths”. It suggests that Arthur McElhill is a suspect in the killing of his family. What an awful tragedy this is. It just seems to get worse and worse. My heart goes out to everyone dealing with this. It cannot be easy.
